Well, for the first time this year I wore short sleeves to work instead of a turtleneck or heavy sweater… the weather’s lovely. It’s right around 70 degrees out, the sun is shining and it’s a bright blue cloudless Tahoe day. I’ve been shoveling the snow off of the pile in the middle of my lawn and onto my flower beds so that my tulip’s don’t emerge while the snow blocks the view from the street. Now that I can do this kind of yard work, I know it’s spring.
The town isn’t very crowded, so if you don’t like navigating through heavy traffic, it’s a perfect time for you to visit. We’ve got plenty of Bonus Time available for your spring getaway and it’s a great time to drive around the lake (you can really pay attention to the scenery instead of all the other cars). I’ll get some spring photos up for you within a couple of weeks.
If you haven’t made your reservations for summer - don’t wait any longer. Most weeks are already booked solid and the earlier you call for your summer reservation, the better. Many of this summer’s reservations have been booked since 2007. You may be tired of hearing it, but the earlier you book, the more choice of availability you’ll have. Please give us a call, soon, if you still need a reservation. Hope to see you soon!Kathleen

As I write this, we’re heading into a beautiful day expected to reach temperatures in the mid-50’s… interesting since we’ve got another big snowstorm predicted for this Friday. Well, that’s Tahoe in March. The ski resorts are busy, but many of you non-skiers have told me you’ve never been up in the winter to see our snow.
Well then, springtime is the time for you to come. In spring, Tahoe still has plenty of snow, but the driving is like summer since all the roads are clear. You can manage your way around the spring snowstorms by keeping the most current conditions in mind. Here’s some tools to help you do that. You can watch a Web Forecast of Reno’s Kolo 8 TV by clicking the following link: www.kolotv.com .
You can also check current road conditions at any time by going to the Cal Trans site at www.dot.ca.gov/. Of course, you can always just call us and we’ll tell you the latest… 530.541.8022. Weekend Bonus Time is more readily available for our members since we’ve switched to Sunday as the beginning of our use week. Give us a call 11 days out and we’ll get you all set up. We’ll have the results of our Winter Employee Photo Contest posted soon. Please check out the work of our employees and choose which one you think is best.
These photos will give you an opportunity to see what us locals look out on every day. Happy Travels.

Well, for the first time in many years we’ve had some really good snow. The Americana is radiant! Check out this photo of us in our winter splendor.
Paul Lyster and the whole maintenance crew did a superb job during our big snow storm the week before last. They were doing snow removal, day and night, and day and night to keep our parking and rooms accessible, and to make sure we all were safe.
Getting to work was an interesting challenge and some of us stayed here to make sure we’d be able to open the Front Desk on time. We never lost power, which meant we all stayed nice and warm while the flakes kept coming down. Boy, it was something else! We’re hoping you and your families weathered the storms in your area safely.
Did you know that you no longer have to submit your reservation in writing? You can call us at 1.800.822.5920, make a reservation and get a confirmation number right over the phone.
We’re starting the New Year with a new website. This site is set up to accept comments from owners, so it’s called a Blog. I’m presenting lots of information for you to use and enjoy – and am hoping to have your input.
If you’d like to share your hints on how to travel, comments about trades you’ve really enjoyed, or even things like what your family loves about Tahoe, we’d like to here from you! You can send us comments using the spaces provided throughout the site.
We’ll be moving slowly with the site at first until we’ve got everything dialed in. Check back often for updated information on your resort and friends in Tahoe. We hope you enjoy visiting us on the web.
On behalf of all of us at the Americana,
Happy New Year!
